Location:  At the intersection of I-10 and I-49 in the South/Central part of the state.  35 miles North of the Gulf of Mexico.

Climate:  Winters are warmer than other parts of the US with temperatures dropping generally into the mid 30s and topping out around the mid 60's.  Spring and Fall are usually very pleasant weather.  The Summers are hot and humid with lows in the mid 70's and highs in the 90's typical of the subtropical weather of South Louisiana.

Lafayette has a strong tourism industry, attracted by the Cajun and Creole cultures of the surrounding region.
